Weaving SAORI style

A beginner's weaving experience with the SAORI weaving loom.

Two Capelets

I love to wear capelets. They cover your shoulders in a snuggly way. Here are my first two:

This capelet is especially drapey because it was made Sakiori style with strips of old clothes and strips of a black leather jacket. There is a cord run through one side of the rectangular piece of cloth that can be pulled to gather the top together. It is adjustable so you can wear the capelet loose on the shoulders or pulled snug to bring it closer to your neck.

Here is a closeup showing the cloth and leather strips. I found that the loose weave makes it not very warm but it works for just a cool night.

Here I am decked out with my felt hat that I made in Rommie's class, my first scarf that I made in Asheville, my green capelet, my sakiori vest is peeking out underneath and my green purse. We were off to a music festival that night. This capelet is a rectangular piece of cloth leftover from my wool seat cushions that I just wrap around my shoulders. The closure is a hand made button hole and a cute little hat - that was a gift when I bought something else -  which is used as the button.
