Learning to Dye Fibers and Fabrics

I always say "Yes" to a workshop with Rommie. She is a great teacher, full of enthusiasm and generous with her materials.

This class was about the differences between dyeing plant based fibers like cotton versus animal fibers like wool, alpaca and silk. I took along all the white threads I had to see how they would react to the dyes. Rommie provided some 2 ply wool that looked great dyed.

Shibori Class

On another day I took Rommie's Shibori class. We used both silk scarves and cotton handkerchiefs to practice folding the fabric, binding it in different ways and then dyeing it.
